Class Descriptions
20/20/20 - This class is 20 minutes each of step, hi/low and weights. the choreography is limited and modifications are always provided making this great class for those new to fitness or just wanting a no nonsense workout.
Cardio 101 - Are you new to group fitness or just want a basic cardio class? this low impact class uses basic moves while still keeping your heart rate up. Focus on form in a comfortable atmosphere while getting a great cardio workout.
Cardio Express - Maximize your caloric burn in a minimum amount of time. This 25 minute class is packed with high intensity, short intervals from floor work to plyometrics. Modifications will be provided, however class experience is recommended.
Express Upper/Lower - You will alternate upper and lower moves with abdominal exercises waved throughout the class. Exercises will be performed in order to reduce transition time from one move to the next keeping your blood pumping! Great class for all levels!
Fusion - No impact class, designed to improve flexibility, coordination and posture, all while strengthening abdominals, legs, back and glutes. Perfect class for all levels as modifications are shown. Monday - emphasis on pilates. Sunday emphasis on yoga.
Hard Core - This core workout will use the floor and/or stability ball to concentrate on your abdominals and back in just 25 minutes.
Hi/Lo - Do you miss the "Old School" method of exercises? This, no equipment needed, class combines fun and fitness along with some choreography to Step-touch your way to a healthier you!
Interval Blast - No fancy footwork here - only simple movements designed for all levels. However don't confuse simplicity for intensity! Kickboxing, athletic step, hi/lo, drills and more could be used in this action packed class.
Kickingboxing Interval - You'll shape your upper and lower body without weights while enjoying a high intensity workout. Advanced, equipment free class!
Power Pump Interval Style - This class combines 5 minutes of weight lifting with 2 minutes of cardio. Cardio moves are basic yet intense enough to raise that heart rate before heading to the lifting segment.
Cardio Conditioning - This dynamic interval class will use basic cardio moves designed to work nearly every muscle group on your body along with some brief sculpting moves utilizing the free weights. Advanced class.
Stability Ball Challenge - Gain strength, stability and balance by incorporating the stability ball into your weight lifting routine. you'll receive greater core strength when you combine free weights and the stability ball - weightlifting will never be the same!
Step it Up! - Intermediate choreography for a fun 45 - minute step workout. Previous step experience required.
Step N' Sculpt - Rev up your metabolism through intervals of simple step combos and toning moves that use your own body weight & dumbbells. Modifications will be shown for those wishing for a low impact workout.
Stretch & Strengthen - This class will improve your felxibility, strength, and posture utilizing various stretching techniques. You'll leave feeling renewed, relaxed and ready to take on the day.
Yoga on the Ball - Emphasis on breathing and relaxation, while using the stability ball to offer support for your yoga poses. If you shy away from yoga than this class is for you!

.Meet Tara - Our New Group Fitness Coordinator
In 2003, she received her Primary Group Certification in order to teach group fitness. She spent four years teaching at least twice a week in the areas of step aerobics, kickboxing, boot camp classes, and resistance training.
In May of 2006 she became certified through AFAA as a personal trainer. In August of 2006 she entered the Master's Program for Exercise Physiology at the University of Kentucky.
Tara just joined our Shapes team in April and we are all excited about the new and upcoming changes to make Shapes the place for group fitness.
